Ceylon Cinnamon

Cinnamon is treasured as one of the most popular spices of the ancient world. Sri Lanka is known as the world's largest producer and exporter of pure cinnamon to the global market. There are more than 250 varieties of cinnamon and Ceylon cinnamon is the most sought after variety. Ceylon cinnamon is cherished due to its exclusive features including health benefits and distinctive flavor, aroma and colour.

Ceylon Cinnamon

Sri Lanka commands over 90% of the world production of cinnamon which is offered to the market in the form of 'Quills' that are cut into specific lengths as per buyers requirements. The cinnamon quills are produced by hand in a traditional manner which is unique to Sri Lanka. Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum Zylensis) or 'True Cinnamon' has always stood out from the rest of the spices with its distinctive taste and aroma. It is botanically different to and distinct from Cassia (Cinnamomum Cassiensis), which is produced in China and Indonesia, and is widely used around the world as a substitute to cinnamon. Cassia is generally very much cheaper and less refined in taste in comparison to Ceylon cinnamon.

Eastern Merchants offers cinnamon products in three forms – cut cinnamon, cinnamon bark oil and cinnamon leaf oil.
